Log in and search along your route to find a fellow commuter.

Second WaytoGoTober effort expands reach

The second annual WaytoGoTober campaign has launched with an expanded reach over last year's 25 companies. More than 40 metro-area employers are competing in this year's challenge, in which employees are encouraged to try something other than driving alone at least one day per week. Employees who carpool, vanpool, take transit, bike or walk at least one day each week in October and log their trips at mywaytogo.org are entered to win great prizes and also have the satisfaction of knowing their efforts are helping reduce congestion and air pollution in the metro area.

Visualizations show density, destinations of Bike to Work Day riders

Way to Go was lucky enough to partner with Strava this Bike to Work Day in order to create some visual representations of rider data to show the event's impact. Almost 10 percent of riders (about 3,000) used the Strava app the morning of Bike to Work Day, and GIS staff at the Denver Regional Council of Governments were able use that data to make this heat map and this interactive chord visualization showing rider routes.

First-ever Go-Tober comes to a close

During October, 25 organizations throughout metro Denver competed to get as many employees as possible to try public transit, biking, walking, vanpooling or carpooling. Employees were challenged to log at least four non-SOV (single-occupant vehicle) commute trips on the MyWayToGo.org trip-tracking website. Organizations competed in one of three categories, based on number of employees. The winner in the Going Strong category was Key Equipment Finance, with 77 of its 220 employees logging four or more non-SOV commutes.
